Biography
Agata is a young dancer and innovative choreographer of Czech, Spanish, and Uruguayan heritage, with creative roots in Prague and Paris.
Her dance journey began at the Centre national de danse d'Angers, where she earned her National Professional Diploma in Dance. She furthered her studies with a Bachelor's degree in Performing Arts and Humanities from Lausanne's Manufacture, majoring in dance, and deepened her theoretical knowledge at the University of Saint-Denis, Paris 8. In 2020, she became a state-qualified dance teacher and explored other movement techniques like the N. Paineau Method, Pilates and yoga, learning a 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training certification.
Agata’s artistic work spans continents. Her 2017 solo piece Sa Présence captivated audiences in the Czech Republic and France. She has collaborated with artists such as Eva Urbanová, physicist J. Marc Chomaz, and composer Marco Suarez, showcasing her interdisciplinary approach. Her work with Lara Gouix led to Les Habités (2020), a performance blending visual and plastic arts with masks, featured at French festivals like Morpho and Confluences.
Her dedication to community engagement is evident in her contributions to the "Be Part" project, using dance to connect with marginalized groups, and collaborations with companies such as Foco al Aire, Zerogrammi, and Michele Steinwald.
Her project VLASY (HAIR) explored imagination and symbolism, with residencies at Tep 39 and Káznice Brno (cz), culminating in site-specific performances. In 2024, supported by SE.S.TA and Venuše ve Švehlovce in Prague (cz), she developed VLASY, presented as a work-in-progress at the Venušiny dny Festival and premiering in November 2024.
Agata also dances for choreographers Carolina Arandia (Aurora, 2023) and Klara Ešnerová (Xposure), and has collaborated with SE.S.TA on site-specific projects for KoresponDance Festival 2023. In 2024, she became an associated artist at SE.S.TA and co-founded Lusk, an association dedicated to artistic creation, alongside Natalie Tun and Eva Urbanová. Actually she is also part of the performance Yutori, choreographed by Natalie Tun. She collaborated with Viktor Černický to create the site-specific performance Točením uvolnit for the KoresponDance Festival in cooperation with PRAKAB employees. Additionally, she took part in an artistic residency alongside Canadian artist K. M. Germain for her research project Chambres.
Vision
In my capacity as a performer, dancer, and choreographer, my fascination revolves around two key facets. First and foremost, I am dedicated to dismantling the barriers that segregate the exclusive realm of dance from the broader landscape of art. My quest involves unearthing the affirmative influence that dance expression can wield upon our society—emphasizing inclusivity and forging connections with diverse spheres. On a parallel note, my passion also lies in pushing the envelope of the familiar, an inclination towards unraveling the poetic and enchanting dimensions of simplicity. I revel in the art of transforming our perspective of the body, cultivating a newfound approach that turns conventions on their head using masks, bodypainting and objects an important element of my projects.
